How to use several playlists on one TV

You can keep more than one playlist on the same device: an M3U link and an XC login, for example, or a playlist for each person at home. Here is how to add them, switch between them, and keep each one up to date.

Add each playlist on the website

1

Note your App ID and key

Open NewTV Player. Its first page shows your App ID and key, and Show QR Code.

2

Sign in on the website

On your phone or computer, open Manage device and sign in with the App ID and key, or scan the QR code with your phone.

3

Add the first playlist

Press Add Playlist for an M3U link or Add XC for a login. Give it a clear Playlist name, such as "Sports" or "Kids": the app shows that name. Press Save.

4

Add the others the same way

Each one is saved under the same App ID and key. Nothing has to be typed with a remote.

5

Press Reload in the app

On the app's first page, Reload asks the website at once for the playlists you added. Each one then loads. A very big playlist takes a little longer the first time.

Your Playlists page

The app's first page, Your Playlists, lists every playlist on the device with its name and how many channels, films and series it holds. The one you are watching is marked In Use. Choose any playlist to open it.

Switch while you watch

  • At the top of a playlist's channels, films and series, the bar shows your first playlists by name. Choose one to switch to it.
  • All Playlists, in the same bar, brings up every playlist on the device.
  • Each playlist keeps its own sections, categories and TV guide, as its provider sends them.

Each playlist stands on its own

  • Updates: each playlist is updated on its own, one at a time. A playlist waiting for its turn says Waiting to Update….
  • Problems: if one playlist cannot load, it says why under its own name, and the others keep working.
  • In Settings: Update Playlist downloads the playlist on screen again, and Update Playlists Daily keeps them fresh by itself.

Change or remove a playlist

Sign in on Manage device again. Every playlist there can be edited or deleted. A deleted playlist is removed from the device and from the website. If you locked a playlist with a PIN on the website, you need that PIN to see, change or delete it there. The app plays it without asking.

More than one device

Each device carries its own App ID and key, so you add your playlists to each device separately. Keep in mind that many playlists play on only one screen at a time: the same playlist on two screens at once may stop on one of them. Children at home? Read how to lock adult categories with a PIN.

Questions and answers

Can I mix M3U links and XC logins?

Yes. Add each one on Manage device, with Add Playlist for an M3U link or Add XC for a login. They appear side by side in the app.

Do I have to type the playlists on my TV?

No. You add them on the website from your phone or computer, and press Reload on the TV.

My new playlist is missing from the app. What now?

Press Reload on the app's first page. Still missing? Restart NewTV Player. A very big playlist takes a little longer the first time it loads.

Can two devices share the same playlists?

Each device has its own App ID and key, so add the playlists to each one. Many playlists play on one screen at a time.

NewTV Player is a media player only: it comes with no channels, films or playlists. Before you add any content, make sure you have the legal right to watch it.
