How to add an M3U playlist to your TV
An M3U playlist is a link to a list of streams. Here is how to open one on your TV, TV box or phone with NewTV Player, without typing it with a remote.
What an M3U link looks like
An M3U playlist is a text file of channels, films or series, each with a name and an address. You usually get it as a link that starts with http:// or https:// and often ends in .m3u, .m3u8 or contains get.php. Whoever gives you the playlist (your provider) sends you this link.
Add it in four steps
Install NewTV Player and open it
The home screen shows your device's App ID and key. Keep it open.
Go to the website
On your phone or computer, open newtvplayer.com/device and enter the App ID and key. Or scan the QR code on the TV.
Press Add Playlist
Give it a Playlist name, paste the link into Playlist URL, and press Save.
Back on the TV, press Reload
The playlist loads, and its channels, films and series appear.
Why add it on the website?
Playlist links are long. Typing one with a TV remote takes minutes and one wrong letter breaks it. On the website you paste it in a second, and the app picks it up by itself.
Very big playlists
NewTV Player reads a playlist a part at a time instead of all at once, so lists with hundreds of thousands of entries open even on small TV boxes.
If the playlist does not load
- Check that the whole link was copied, with nothing missing at the end.
- Open the link in a browser: if it does not download a list there either, ask your provider.
- Press Reload on the app's home screen to try again.
Have a login instead of a link? See how to use an Xtream (XC) login.
NewTV Player is a media player only: it comes with no channels, films or playlists. Before you add any content, make sure you have the legal right to watch it.
