Set up NewTV Player on Android TV in one minute

All you need is your TV remote and your phone. Watch the short video, or follow the steps below.

What you need

  • An Android TV or Google TV with Google Play. A Fire TV has no Google Play: see Install on Fire TV.
  • A phone with a camera, to scan the QR code.
  • Your playlist: an M3U link or an Xtream (XC) login from your provider.

Four steps

1

Install it from Google Play

On the TV, open Google Play, search for NewTV Player and install it. You can also start the install from your phone: see Install on Android.

2

Open the app

Its home screen shows your App ID, your key and a QR code.

3

Scan the QR code with your phone

Your phone opens this website with the App ID and key filled in. Press Add Playlist for an M3U link or Add XC for a login, fill it in and press Save.

4

Press Reload on the TV

The playlist loads. A very big playlist takes a little longer the first time.

Using it with the remote

  • Move with the arrow keys and press OK to open a channel, a film or a series.
  • Press Back to go back. To close the app from its home screen, press Back a few times: it tells you how many presses are left, so it is never closed by accident.
  • Use the TV guide to see what is on across your channels: see what an EPG is.

If something goes wrong

  • The QR code does not open anything: open newtvplayer.com/device in your phone's browser and type the App ID and key.
  • The playlist does not appear: press Reload on the home screen, or close the app and open it again.
  • Google Play on the TV does not find the app: install it from your phone or computer with the same Google account, and choose your TV.

NewTV Player is a media player only: it comes with no channels, films or playlists. Before you add any content, make sure you have the legal right to watch it.
